Our last Covid19 post was back in March, so it seems the right time to update everyone on what's been happening since.
It is important to note that business has been pretty busy here, with fourteen placements made since lockdown lifted for the construction industry in May, in locations such as Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, Holland, Ireland and the UK. It's great to see that companies are still hiring and candidates are still very much willing to relocate, despite all that's happened.
Two of the fourteen placements are candidates who have relocated out of Dubai. With the middle east facing uncertainties, it seems that more people are looking to move elsewhere for work.
However, companies are making changes in the way that they operate, with the hiring process being at the forefront of many adaptations. Ten out of all fourteen candidates who have been placed since May had their interviews successfully through Zoom or Microsoft Teams, suggesting that although adaptations have been made, it hasn't impacted negatively on the overall hiring process. For more tips and advice on video interviews, see our post 'tips for standing out in a video interview'.
As well as this, it should be noted that certain areas of construction are consistently getting busier, with data centres and pharmaceutical projects on a steep rise since May. Although certain areas may fall, such as office fit-out or residential, it certainly doesn't mean that opportunities are scare, as we are finding it to be far from this.
If you feel insecure in your role or if you're keeping yourself open to new opportunities regardless, feel free to get in touch.
