Great news for the Irish construction industry as plans for three data centres in Grange Castle, South Dublin have been approved by the South Dublin County Council. The site already houses data centres of tech giants such as Google and Microsoft.
The developers have been granted ten years to build the facilities that will cover a total of 80,200 sq m. Building A will be located on the south-west of the site with a gross floor area of 28,500 sq m and house 26 emergency generators and 26 ventilation shafts. Building B will be on the north-west of the site with a gross floor area of 21,725 sq m and 18 emergency generators. Finally, building C will be built last and span across 28,573 sq m and include 26 emergency generators.
The council granted plans under specific conditions that include the implementation of mitigation measures during construction, and implementation of measures outlined in a Site-Specific Floor Risk Assessment. As well as this, an Arboricultural Implication Assessment is to be submitted before work begins.
